CHARITY EVENT PASCH OF ROMIOSINI – A GREAT SUCCESS! A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL

An evening where the present met the past and the past embraced the present in the greatest of friendships and with a joyful kiss; for like old friends they knew one another – for the past was in the soul of the present which has grown from it, for the past was Romiosini and the present inherited its pains and its joys, its enslavements and its freedoms, its humiliations and its glories, over the centuries.

And for this wonderful experience we, who were there for the night and saw and felt it all in the deepness of our being, must thank the Romiosini Cultural Association with all its very talented musicians, singers and dancers of all ages, under the baton of their Musical Director and Founder, George Kyprianou, for giving us such a memorable evening. It was a great gift for us that they should offer their services for free and to come all the way from their home base in Paralimni in the free part of Famagusta in Cyprus.
We were also honoured on the night with the presence of His Grace Bishop Athanasius of Tropaiou, who passed on to us the Blessing and Best Wishes of His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain, who was not able to attend.

We must also not forget the very jolly presence of the Mayor of Islington, Councillor Dave Poyser, who joined in all the fun and participated in dancing the Cypriot version of the Conga, around the aisles of the seats at the Gracepoint Hall where our concert took place.

A big thanks also goes to our various sponsors, donors, neighbours of the parish, and generally the Greek and Cypriot Orthodox communities for responding so positively to this Appeal.
We must also not forget those who worked behind the scenes in order to prepare for this event. such as the teachers and devoted staff of Grafton Primary School who very kindly volunteered to help in many ways on the day of the event at Gracepoint Theatre , and all photographers who took all these memorable photographs which can be enjoyed on our website.

A very special thanks must also go to our ladies of the Philoptochos who unstintingly work hard throughout the year cooking for our weekly lunches for the elderly and young, and are always ready to prepare a special meal as requested by one of our advertisers, who invited Mr. Jeremy Corbyn MP as a special guest.
To have put on such an event takes special organisational skills and, coming so soon after the long and tiring, but very moving services of Holy Week, could not have been done without the strength and guidance of our beloved Lord who oversees all things done in His name. Glory to Thee O Lord! Glory to Thee!
